10,000 post cards later, our big dream is becoming real. In 2016, the Canal District Alliance began a grass roots postcard campaign to build momentum to be the next home of the Red Sox AAA Ballpark.  This grassroots effort was successful; The City of Worcester and Red Sox have announced a historic agreement, creating a new ballpark in the heart of the Canal District.

The Canal District Board of Directors thanks the efforts of the City Manager, the Mayor and District Councilor, and the Worcester Delegation, as well as Governor Baker, Lieutenant Governor Polito and Congressman McGovern, for their leadership in creating this winning economic development opportunity.

The Canal District Alliance pledges to continue to support the Red Sox as they move forward with the building of the ballpark and the economic development that will come into our district. On behalf of our community, thank you for the investment you have chosen to make in our unique district, in the unique City of Worcester; our community is excited and ready to Play Ball!

Gene Zabinski- President of the Canal District Alliance and Architect of the Winning Post Card Campaign: “The Canal District is fast becoming a destination neighborhood in the City and this Worcester Red Sox opportunity represents a whole new level of growth and prosperity for both the Canal District and the city. We welcome this exciting opportunity.”
